Awards & Scholarship
OSROA will recognize excellence in the field of school-based policing (School Resource Officer) at the yearly SRO & DARE Officer Combined Conference at the Kalahari & Resort Conference Center in Sandusky, Ohio. Below is a description of the awards that will be presented.
OSROA Award of Valor
Valor Awards are given for a single act of courage and valor, above and beyond that expected of normal incidents/actions of an SRO/school staff member. SRO must be a current OSROA Member. – Nomination Form
SRO of the Year Award
Award nominees must have a minimum of two years’ experience as an SRO, be a current member of the Ohio School Resource Officers Association and demonstrate a strong commitment to activities involving School Resource Officers and the community. The successful candidate is an SRO who has made an innovative/positive impact in their school community. Selection of the award will be based on detailed example(s) showcasing the SROs contribution. Distinguished School Service Award
Is there an outstanding administrator or staff/faculty member in your School System? Reward them with a nomination for the Ohio School Resource Officers Association’s Distinguished School Service Award. The Administrator or Staff/Faculty member nominated must meet the following requirements and be nominated by a School Resource Officer who is a current member of the Ohio School Resource Officers Association. The successful candidate is an administrator, staff or faculty member who has made a positive impact on their school community by demonstrating support for a safe and positive learning environment. The selection of this award recipient is based on detailed examples showcasing the contribution this nominee had made to improve safety at school and supporting a safe and positive learning environment. – Nomination Form
OSROA Scholarship Awards
The OSROA Scholarship Award is granted for $1000 to selected individuals for the use of education expenses towards college or technical school. The OSROA Scholarship Award is to be used toward expenses of the college or technical school of the selected student’s choice. The decision is based on the following requirements:
· Currently a High School Senior or attending a college/ technical school
· Child, Stepchild, or legal dependent of a current OSROA Member
· Completed Essay (no more than 400 words) submitted with the application form
